It's all Greek to me .....
On Friday night we went to the Greek Fest in Denver with our friends Jerdie and Eden. We had a great time watching the dancers, playing the carnival games, eating lots of yummy Greek food and drink Greek beer & wine (OK Charlie & I had peach iced tea). We had so much fun we stayed until nearly ten -- way past Charlie's bedtime. But he was a trooper and didn't even fall asleep on the way home.
Here are some pictures from the Greek Fest.

So you think you can dance?
My secret, guilty summer pleasure is watching the show "So, you think you can dance?"
Here is Charlie watching the show with us and imitating the dancers. I am expecting him to win the 2023 season!
(Yes, those are Doug's feet in the pictures, but you will never get him to admit to watching the show :-) )

Father's Day
I want to wish all of the daddies out there a very Happy Father's Day!!!
I want to especially thank Doug for being such a great father!!!
Doug doesn't spend his evenings playing video games, watching TV or drinking with his friends, he spends every evening playing with Charlie and hanging out with me. He wakes up at 4:00 to go to work and sometimes doesn't get home until 5:00, but he always has time to play with Charlie. Since I have been plagued with migraines and started grad school, he often comes home from work, cooks dinner, cleans up and still plays with Charlie. All without complaining!! He does bath time and bedtime, even when Charlie is stalling!!
Doug is extremely selfless and always puts his family first.
Charlie, baby and me are extremely luck to have such a great daddy and husband.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!

Grant's Farm
On our last day in St Louis, we took Charlie to Grant's Farm. Charlie loved seeing the animals. He fed the goats and camels, but his favorite thing is running through the misters. Besides the camels, I think Doug liked the free beer best. Charlie in the mist.

Happy Birthday Grandma!
On Saturday June 7th, we drove to my Uncle Earls property outside of Peoria, Illinois to celebrate my Great-Grandma's 100th birthday. We had fun playing, visiting with relatives, and eating. It was extremely hot, so we also spent a lot of time just sitting in the shade.
My Uncle Earl has a collection of antique push-petal cars and tractors. He also restored my great-grandpa's first tractor, a 1939 Farmall. Charlie had fun checking out. But since they are antiques, there was no playing on them.
It is amazing how much the world has changed in 100 years, in 1908, there were no tv's, no computers, no microwaves, most people did not have cars, there was no such thing as plastic. People wore much more conservative clothes. People didn't have refrigerators; they had an ice box where they actually had a block of ice to keep the food cold. People did not fly on commercial airplanes. There were no contact lenses. Most families had a family doctor who came over to your house when you needed him. Some common diseases included diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, smallpox, measles, mumps and rubella. Most of those diseases have been wiped out now by vaccinations. Antibiotics, such as penicillin, would have been something they only dreamed of. In the early 1900's they didn't have injections or anesthesia. Most of the remedies were home made or store bought items.

St. Louis Gateway Arch
On Friday we took Charlie to the top of the St. Louis Gateway Arch. It was very windy that day and the Arch was swaying a lot, so we didn't stay at the top very long as I was getting motion sick :-(
Here is a picture of the Arch from the Metrolink station.

Leaving on a jet plane
Over this past week, we went to St Louis to see my family and celebrate my great-grandma's 100th birthday.
Our trip got off to a rocky start. We checked our luggage in 60 mins before our flight was set to depart and walked to security. An hour later we were through with security and ready to catch the tram to our gate. Obviously, we missed our flight. I have never had an hour wait in security. We rushed to our gate, but the plane had departed. Doug got us wait listed on the next flight and we headed to our gate. As we passed by the customer service desk, the line was full of other people who had ridden the tram over with us, we weren't the only ones to miss our flight due to security.
After a nervous wait, we got three seats on the next flight. Of course none of them were together, but a kind gentleman switched seats with us. I was a little annoyed with the flight attendant who kept on trying to put me and Charlie together and Doug in a separate seat. I was planning on the separate seat, so I could hopefully rest. Aren't daddies just as capable of taking care of their children on a plane as mommies?
Charlie was a great little traveler as usual :-)
We got into St Louis and headed to my grandma's house. As we pulled into the drive way we discovered that the radiator had gone out. Off to the mechanic the car went and we were stranded at my grandma's house for the day.
We still managed to have fun playing outside in the yard. Here is a picture of Doug and Charlie out playing.
